Company History

The family run company, owned by David & Jenny Penk, was established on the 19th July 1988.  We are incorporated under the Companies act 1985 in England & Wales as a Private Limited Company under Company Number 2278602.  

• David Penk has worked in the insurance industry since 1978 and has a wealth of insurance experience & knowledge. He has been a company director of Penk Insurance since 1989.
• Jenny Penk was formerly an executive officer for the Department Of Employment for 14 yrs before she became a co-owner of Penk Insurance in 1989.
• Since 1988, Penk Insurance has locally provided an excellent ‘face to face’ service on motor, home, travel and other insurance products.
• Since 1993 they have also become a leading provider of taxi insurance in the Derbyshire, South Yorkshire & Nottinghamshire areas.
• Due to their continued growth, they moved into their current premises at 49-53 Chatsworth Road, the former Parkers Bakery, on the 3rd November 2001.
• 2005 was the year that ‘General Insurance’ became a regulated activity by the Financial Services Authority (FSA) and Penk Insurance Services Ltd received their ‘Grant Of Permission’ number 308744 on the 14th January 2005.
• Also in 2005, Penk Insurance was ‘awarded’ a number of national taxi insurance schemes by their insurer partners and they are now insuring taxi drivers from all over the UK. 
• 2007 saw the launch of the Penk Insurance website (penktaxi.co.uk and penkinsurance.co.uk).
• 2008: Penk Insurance celebrate their 20th year in businesss
• 2009/2010 were challenging years, due to the impact of the recession and the difficulties within the insurance marketplace, but Penk Insurance were pleased with their performance and the outlook at year end 2010 was very promising
• 2011 has been a very succesful year, particularly the growth of the taxi insurance schemes. 2 new taxi facilities were secured.
